so i arrived home safely late sunday night at around 1030pm. fortunately margot was still up so it was so nice to have her there to welcome me back. we chatted for about 25 mins and then both of us exhausted, headed to bed. the trip was amazing- i really can't go much into detail now but i just wanted to say hello- it's been awhile since i last wrote something on here. i promise that after this week i'll post pictures and tell of all the adventures i had the past 9 days. crazy to think i made it to 3 African countries (botswana, zambia & zimbabwe) in such a short amount of time. it really was a trip of a lifetime.
unfortunately i have some sad news- during our one week break one of our CIEE students was unable to get back to shore after being swept out by a huge wave. Terrance was traveling with 4 other students, 3 other CIEE students, at the time along the Garden Route in South Africa. Being away from civilization and a computer, i didnt find out about the accident until Friday night- and it still is unreal to me. I had ethics with him & it's going to be difficult going back to class tomorrow and not seeing his smiling face. its been tough coming back to school & noticing how often i'd run into him in the computer lab or around campus and it feels weird to think he's gone. CIEE has been amazing with providing support and everything- and it's slowly bonding us all together as we provide support for eachother. we all realize how freak of an accident this was and how it could have easily been any one of us. So I just ask you to keep Terrance and his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.
alright well i just wanted to let you all know i am safe and back home in cape town. i saw andrew, my host brother, for the first time last night and i could tell he had missed having me there to hang out with him. margot, andrew and ali have been so supportive of everything and i feel so fortunate to have them here for me. especially after hearing about the accident it was difficult coming back to cape town and to school- but i knew that if i ever needed to talk or anything margot is always here to listen- and that's comforting. she was actually following the accident in the newspaper all week as well. last night andrew, margot and i had dinner & they were so excited to hear about my trip and can't wait until i get my pictures in order to show them.
hopefully i'll get this stupid literature review done soon and ill be able to share everything with all of you as well.
until next time,
peace & love
